On Saturday, May 31st, we opened a large paraglider exhibition at the Norwegian Aviation Museum in Bodø, Norway. It was truly wonderful to see such a great turnout at the opening. Before welcoming visitors, we had several speakers including representatives from the museum, the Norwegian Airsport Federation, the leader of our Bodø paragliding club, and photographer Merethe Leirvik.
The exhibition, titled «Free as a Bird – Paragliding Around the World», will be on display throughout the year. It was created by me, Ole Dalen, together with photographer Merethe Leirvik. The exhibition features 41 large photographs from all over the globe, along with three short films: one about Norway, one showcasing various countries, and another highlighting some Norwegian female pilots sharing their passion for paragliding.
Our exhibition represents paragliding adventures from around 30 countries, including Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Taiwan, Bulgaria, Morocco, Namibia, the USA, Canada, Fiji, Abu Dhabi, Yemen, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Mauritius, Qatar, and Indonesia. We believe this is one of the largest paragliding exhibitions worldwide.
As a paraglider pilot and photographer, together with Merethe, we wanted to create this exhibition to inspire others and demonstrate that traveling with a paraglider is not just a sport, but a lifestyle. The photos and films share some of our adventures and beautiful nature experiences around the world as a couple from Bodø.
